What can I have made?

Pretty much anything that can reasonably be made from leather. Bags, guitar straps, wallets, journal covers, accessories, and entirely new ideas are all fair game. If you have an idea that doesn't fit neatly into a category, that's usually where things get interesting.

Question 2

I have an idea, but I don't know exactly what I want. Is that okay?

Absolutely. You don't need a complete design or a detailed blueprint before reaching out. Bring me a sketch, a reference photo, a description, a problem you need solved, or even just a general “I want something like this, but more me.” We'll figure out the details together. I'm here to tell your story, after all.

Can I choose the leather and hardware?

Yes — within reason. I'll help you choose materials that make sense for the design and intended use. Depending on availability, you may be able to choose leather, lining, hardware, thread, colors, and other details.

How much does a custom order cost?

There isn't really a one-size-fits-all answer. Pricing depends on the design, materials, size, construction, and amount of labor involved. Once I know what you're dreaming up, I'll provide a quote before any work begins.

Question 5

What about a deposit?

Accepted Answer

Custom work means putting some skin in the game.Custom orders require a 25–50% deposit up front, depending on the materials and scope of the project. This covers the initial cost of materials, design work, and getting your project onto the workbench. The exact deposit amount and payment terms will be included in your quote before you commit to the project.
Because that deposit covers materials and design work specifically for your project, it is non-refundable if you choose to cancel your order. If circumstances change, though, talk to me. Life happens, and I'd rather have a conversation than make assumptions.
Once your design is ready, I'll send you images for approval before moving forward with the final build. For projects where the finished piece differs significantly from the approved design, I'll also provide final photos for verification before requesting the remaining balance.
Full payment is required before your piece ships.Once your project is complete, I'll contact you for the remaining balance. If payment hasn't been received within 30 days of completion and you haven't contacted me to make other arrangements, I'll consider the order abandoned and may offer the piece for sale as a ready-made item at its full retail price. If that happens, any deposit already paid will not be refunded.

How long will my custom order take?

That depends on what we're making, what materials are needed, and what else is on the workbench. I'll give you an estimated timeline when we discuss your project and keep you updated if anything changes.

Warranty, Returns, and Repairs?

Can I return a custom order?Custom orders are generally not eligible for return because they're made specifically for you. In certain circumstances, I may accept a return if the piece can reasonably be offered as a ready-made item. Approved custom returns are subject to a 20% rehoming fee.What does the MoonShine warranty cover?MoonShine pieces are warrantied against defects in materials and workmanship. If I screwed something up or a material fails prematurely because of a defect, I'll work with you to make it right.What isn't covered by the warranty?Normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, alterations, improper care, and general abuse aren't covered. Scratches, patina, and evidence that you've actually used your piece are part of the story. Running it over with your truck adds to the lore, but isn't covered either, sorry.Do you offer repairs?Absolutely. If something happens to your piece and you'd like it repaired, let me know. I'll assess the damage and see what I can do. Because many MoonShine pieces use distinctive, limited, or one-of-a-kind materials, an exact replacement may not always be possible. If replacement materials are needed, I'll work with you to find a mutually acceptable alternative. Repair costs may include replacement materials, and shipping both ways is the customer's responsibility.
